Friday. Working for the Weekend

The end of the case means mountains of paperwork, which means we all complain. It's one of the perks of the job - creative bitching.

It's not all bad, though. Today on my way home, I saw a guy selling vintage plaid ties from a blanket. He gave me a real deal on the whole bunch, and since it was right by my place, I didn't have to lug them too far. Sure, they smell a little funky, but they'll be fine.

After she sees the ties he's brought home, Millie folds her arms and shakes her head, not believing that the ties she so carefully threw out and hid in the dumpster somehow managed to return. They were like boomerangs. Smelly, plaid-colored boomerangs.

"You can't bring those in here."

"I already did. Anyway, they were on *sale*"

"Arrrrrgh." She doesn't try to hide her annoyance. "Mike! You can't keep them. They've been in the dumpster!"

"It looks like the last guy who wore these *really like hot dogs. What a slob - wait. A dumpster? What makes you say they were in a dumpster, or rather "the" dumpster, like you know which one?" *suspicion rising, starts examining the ties* "These are MY TIES. I PAID FOR MY OWN TIES. AGAIN."

"That's your own fault for not being able to recognize them. And that's YOUR mustard stains. Why would you even BUY something that had mustard stains?!?!"

"They. were. on. SALE. And why should I recognize them? My ties were safe at home - or so I thought!"

"Plus, it's very hard to see mustard stains on these - it's part of what makes them great."

"That's so gross!" She frowns. "You're not keeping them. I'll buy you new ones."

"That's a needless expense. I already bought these twice! Just send them to the cleaners'...no, wait, maybe I should take them *myself.*"
